The importance of sitting.

The importance of just sitting. Most dogs sit around all day at home for the most part, while we work, live our busy lives, etc. Then as soon as we get home we walk our dogs, run them, dog park, bike, take them to daycare, wear them out. My advice is. Slow down! Go to a park and just sit. Let them watch all the people run around, let them watch the squirrels, other dogs run by, children play. Take them to a patio, order a drink for yourself, relax. This is such an essential and easy way to socialize them. This not only teaches them patience, but that the world outside your home doesn’t consist of chaos, excercise and over stimulation (which in result can cause anxiety, reactivity, regression). Instead relaxation, socialization, and impulse control. This still can wear your dog out just as much by giving them mental stimulation, without them feeling too drained. So take a blanket, some treats, put on some music, and just….sit.
